Snazzy Shoes

In 2002, Golf Digest unofficially but gleefully announced the death of the all-white golf shoe. In its stead were new lines of saddle-shoe styles, tennis shoe derivatives and fashion-influenced selections.

But style and comfort, durability and grip must align if one is to invest in a good golf shoe. Blisters from a poor fit can hamper your play on and off the course. A well-fitting shoe will be tight at first with the eyelits near each other and horizontal. Moulded insoles can help to perfect the fit, which should be established by also checking to see that your instep is not too deep when you stride. If these elements are not in place to your comfort and satisfaction, keep shopping.

Some of the most famous footwear names include Ecco, Footjoy, Addidas and Nike.

Ideally, shoes should last at least two seasons, so make sure it’s a fashion statement you want to make for that long. Also, one of the reasons the white shoe went out of fashion was the difficulty in keeping them clean. Two-tone shoes will still be a problem in that department. If you know that in advance, you won’t be disappointed.

Metal or plastic is not going to be an option for much longer as it pertains to the spikes on the bottom of your shoe. Courses worldwide are banning the green-gnashing metal spikes in favor of plastic spikes that leave little damage without losing good ground grip.

Prefer to shop online? There are a number of websites that can give you opinion and price comparison, but if you are going to buy online, you should ensure that the online shop you patronize has a liberal return policy or you will get just what you pay for. While it might go easy on your wallet, when you are making that fourth hour or mile, whichever comes first, you will be paying again in discomfort. One site Idaho Golf found called shoebuy.com has a nice selection of shoes as well as a good return policy. Deals can be found on eBay as well if you have found the shoe that fits you in the store and you want to purchase them more affordably elsewhere.
